SAR Interferometry Basics

Quite often I am asked to provide literature on InSAR basics. I used to suggest Doris Manual, but there are of course many other sources.

Therefore I wanted to compile a list of papers, software and useful tools. Please let me know if you have ideas on how to expand this article.

Papers

Doris Manual - TU-DELFT

This manual covers the steps involved in interferometry. It has descriptions and implementation of each step, which makes it quite unique for the curious reader.
Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry - Richard Bamler, Philipp Hartl, 1998
This is a great literature overview for InSAR. It is a must read with lots of examples. It's step by step writing style makes it easier to understand.

Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry - Rosen P.A., Hensley S., Joughin I. R., Li F.K., Madsen S.N.,  Rodriguez E., Goldstein R.M., 2000

An invited paper for Proceedings of IEEE. This paper starts from the basic measurement principles and explains different possible applications of SAR observations.

InSAR Training Manual - ESA, 2007

This training manual consists of three sections: InSAR Principles, InSAR Processing - Practical and InSAR Processing - mathematical. It is published by the European Space Agency and can be purchased as a hard copy.

A Beginner's Guide to Interferometric SAR Concepts and Signal Processing, Mark A. Richards, 2007

This is a nice paper on InSAR for the technical minded people. It covers quite a wide range of topics with enough detail. It reflects some of the more recent developments not covered in Bamler and Hartl paper from 1998
